Keen clothesmaker Sarah Jane is set to expand online following a year of running a high street haberdashery.

Ms Jane, 50, said she was planning to celebrate the first anniversary of her store, Sarah Jane's Haberdashery in Cuthbert Court, Dereham, by launching a new YouTube channel and website.

She said: “I have been welcomed into the town and the general opinion seems to be that people are delighted I opened.

Ms Jane said a lot of people seemed keen to make their own clothes these days, as it often proved cheaper than buying them ready-made, due to the rising cost of living.

She said: “This hasn't often been the case in recent years.

“I have also found that many, many people make use of our 'care and repair' range of haberdashery to keep their clothes looking great for longer.”

Ms Jane said topics covered on her upcoming YouTube channel, to be called 'Create with Sarah Jane’, would cover everything from "a tie-dye video, pattern hacks, and things that I find interesting and want to share”.

She is also launching a website at createwithsarahjane.co.uk and a sewing programme called 'Sarah's Sewing Ninjas'.

Ms Jane said: “My ninja programme has various levels of sewing skills and you get different awards for each level you reach.”

Ms Jane worked at craft shop Knit Wits and Fabrics between 2010 and 2015, before returning for a second stint from December 2021.

But the business closed its doors in July after owners Fiona and Bill Joisce decided to retire - and couldn't find anyone able to take over.
