A bricklaying apprentice at Barratt Homes’ Cringleford Heights has shared why he thinks apprenticeships represent the future.
Harvey Jackson, 17, from Dereham is currently pursuing a Bricklaying Level 2 NVQ at Stephenson College in Leicestershire.
He said: “I'm better at practical work, so I thought I'd give bricklaying a go.
“What I enjoy about my role is being around other bricklayers and learning a lot from the team.
"I'm most looking forward to acquiring the knowledge and skills to do the work on my own.
"I believe I have already gained lots of skills, and I am now able to do bricklaying and block work to a very good standard.
"I look forward to hopefully leading my own team of bricklayers one day.
"This is something that I aspire to, and that I believe my apprenticeship will help me with.

"If you enjoy working outside and don't want to go to college too often, I definitely recommend doing an apprenticeship as you get first-hand experience of what it's like to be on a building site.
"It also allows you to learn more than being on a normal college course as you are working with professionals that have been doing it for a long time, and they want to see you succeed in the career path you have chosen."
Dave Martin, construction director at Barratt Homes Anglia, said: "We are immensely proud of Harvey’s dedication and progress as a bricklaying apprentice at Barratt Homes.
"His commitment to learning and building valuable skills is truly commendable.
"We encourage individuals interested in pursuing a similar path to get in touch with us.
"At Barratt Homes, we are committed to nurturing talent in the construction industry and providing a supportive environment for individuals like Harvey to thrive."
