A family business that has been selling second-hand caravans since the 1960s is up for sale, with owners hoping to fetch in excess of £1m for the company.
Greentrees Caravan Store, which moved into its site off the A47 near Dereham 25 years ago, is looking for new owners as its managing director eyes retirement.
Founded by former-BBC Radio Norfolk presenter Keith Greentree and his father in 1967, the caravan business grew quickly over the next two decades.
By the early 2000s Mr Greentree - who until last year hosted The Big Country Show and, before that, Rodeo Norfolk on BBC Radio Norfolk - had created East Anglia’s largest purpose-built caravan and motorhome centre, filling its two acre site with new and used mobile homes.
Mr Greentree’s son, Neil Greentree, became a company director in 2003, having been with the company as a technician since the 1980s.
Keith Greentree - a leading figure in Norfolk's country music scene and a former drummer - stepped down as a director in 2016.
The new owners will inherit a two storey showroom, parking for 120 caravans, and an eight bay workshop kitted out with specialist equipment.
In 2022 the turnover of the business was £10,408,681, with company owners saying they were selling and servicing more than 1,100 vehicles a year, making it the largest industry dealership in the east of England.
A team of ten qualified mechanics and 20 other members of staff are also set to come with the deal.
Managing agents Christie & Co said in its online listing: “The business has built a strong customer base with a high percentage of repeat custom and reputation for exceptional customer service.
"The market for motorhomes has been growing so represents another opportunity to grow in this highly profitable segment of the market."
The business is available on a freehold or leasehold basis.
