A mystery murder has taken place in the streets of Dereham, and not everyone is promised a happy ending.
Author Gary Cockaday will release his crime fiction, A Moment's Madness, this weekend.
After working on getting his first novel off the ground for 25 years, the second book flowed more easily.
"This one was a lot easier to write, and I didn't suffer writer's block.
"Once I've decided on a character, I fall in love with them.
Set in Dereham, readers will recognise some of the locations mentioned in the story.
"The homes are based in Dereham, Costessey, and Riverside," Mr Cockaday said.
Jon, the story's main character, has his accountancy firm overlooking the market square.
And Gaby, who finds herself in unexpected circumstances, moves to Toftwood.
"Dereham has been my home for the last 30 years, and they always say to write about what you know," Gary added.
Although a sequel to his debut novel, Full Circle: A Love Story of Sorts, the book can be read as a standalone.
A Moment's Madness will be available on Kindle Unlimited, and the ebook and paperback can be found on Amazon.
