An award-winning town centre pub is set to reopen under new management after three months of being closed.

The news comes after the previous landlords of The Cock pub in Dereham pulled their last pints on July 27.

Now the pub is set to reopen tomorrow, October 14 under the new management of previous pub regulars Marvin Shalders and Phillip Eglen.

The pub's new management has promised to try and maintain the award-winning "warm and friendly ambience" and "excellent range of real ales" that patrons have come to expect.

Mr Shalders said: “I’ve been a frequent visitor to The Cock and have always loved the atmosphere there, it’s something I’ll do my best to keep as we move forward.”

They have even teased a brand new addition set for the pub in November.

Mr Eglen added: “Whilst maintaining what The Cock had under Steve’s ownership we also want to introduce a ‘new and exciting twist’ that we think will go down exceptionally well in Dereham – we’ll have more details in November!”

Following its grand reopening from 3pm, The Cock will be open seven days a week and is set to celebrate with live music from singer DC Wilson on Monday evening.

Previous landlords Jane Howard and Steve Garner took on the pub back in January 2020 to champion real ale before retiring this July.

Under their management, the pub was acclaimed by CAMRA and voted best in the district.
