A Norfolk brewery has won three awards at a regional brewing competition.

Moon Gazer Ales, based in Hindringham, won the awards at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) eastern region awards.

The success at the competition, which was held in Bedford, has secured the brewery a place in the national final in Liverpool next March.

Moon Gazer Ales received a gold medal for their Skidaddler mild stout in the stout category, a silver medal for their Stotart in the speciality beer category, and a bronze medal for Cheeky Jack in the IPA and pale ale category.

The beers were entered in the regional competition for keg-dispensed beers and were judged against beers from seven counties across the eastern region.

The awards were attended by more than 50 brewers, beer sommeliers, and industry experts.

David Holliday, co-founder and brewer at Moon Gazer Ales, was delighted with the triple accolade.

He said: “We are delighted that we were judged to be in the top beers produced in the region and to continue our proud run of representing craft beer from Norfolk.

“Skidaddler, which once again received an award in the stout category, is particularly pleasing as it has now won a handful of awards since its launch only a couple of years ago.

“To be awarded three medals against such a strong line up of top brewers was amazing.

"We take great pride in our craft beers, and just love the fact that we are able to fly the flag for Norfolk – our home county of which we are so proud."

Moon Gazer Ales are brewed using Norfolk Maris Otter barley from Norfolk maltster Crisp Maltings.

The brewery is now looking forward to developing its keg range further as well as continuing with its core business of cask ales.
