A business owner has had to endure 14 power cuts at her boutique over the course of just six months.

Emma Dennes has seen her Emma's Boutique in Dereham lose electricity due to an underground cable fault in the area since May.

The power cuts have meant that her business has been unable to operate some days, with the worse case being a two-day closure.

She said: "It's just been so frustrating and being an independent business, every time I reported the incident, nothing substantial was done and it just felt we weren't getting anywhere."

Ms Dennes has not been the only one affected by the power cuts and says that seven other businesses in the area also experienced a lack of electricity.

UK Power Network has since dug a trench on Nelson Place to find the fault with an underground cable.

Ms Dennes said: "The power's back on but I'll be keeping a close eye on the situation."

She also said the company had suggested she purchase a generator to allow the business to continue running throughout disruptions.

Ms Dennes said: "To be told that we had to get our own generator was also frustrating because those are really expensive."

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: "We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by repeated interruptions and we appreciate how difficult it is to be without power.

"Engineers were called to Nunn's Way, Dereham at 9.55am on November 21 to complete emergency works following an underground cable fault affecting three customers.

"They worked through the night to make the permanent repair and we will continue to monitor this part of the network."
