Closing down signs have gone up at a DIY store as administrators still remain tight-lipped over its future.

Homebase in Dereham is hosting an administration sale with large signs promoting it on display.

Posters advertising the store's administration sale have gone up and show discounts of between 10pc and 30pc on marked goods.

Although the signs depict the location on Yaxham Road is closing, the date of its closure, as well as what will replace it, is still unknown.

Directors of the DIY store chain made the decision to call in administrators for the business, which had reported losses of £84.2 million last year.

As part of a rescue deal, 70 of its 130 stores were sold to the retail group CDS, which owns The Range.

The Homebase locations in Lowestoft and Cromer were part of the Sainsbury's bid, with the one at the Tower Retail Park in south Lowestoft having served its customers for more than 20 years.

Damian McGloughlin, CEO of Homebase, had previously said: "My priority is and continues to be our team members, and I recognise that this news will be unsettling for them.

"The remaining 49 UK stores will continue to trade as normal while the administrators complete discussions with potential buyers.

People in Dereham have also described their future as "bleak" amid a flurry of closures, including the town's post office and a GP surgery in Toftwood.

When approached for comment, the company's administrator said it would not be providing additional information.
