There were a couple of new faces in the Dereham team who clearly made a great impact on the pitch while the old faithful showed they are keen to improve on their fourth place finish in Greene King Eastern Counties Division Two North last season.
The scoring opened five minutes into the game with 'Bobo' quickly starting his account at the club with a great run from inside the Dereham half. Jack Edwards successfully converted. The forwards, not wishing to be outdone, brought together some great pressure around the breakdown leading to a successful drive across the line by number eight, Alex Amys after 10 minutes. This was once again successfully converted by Edwards.
Coaches Robert Jones and Frank Affleck's instructions were continually carried out as four more tries were scored before the break, two by Edwards, one from 'Harry' and another from 'Bobo'.
At half-time Roger Denton, Phil East and Oliver Hunt came on to add additional emphasis to the new strength in depth. After five minutes another new addition took centre stage as 'Davies' powered over. With the score now ramping up Norwich tried to get hold of the game but Dereham added further scores through East, Davies, And Brooke, Edwards and Bobo.
Captain Dan Ponder said: 'It is important that we completed the win strongly and it was great to see the new strength we have in the team. I can happily say, however, this is not our best performance.'
Dereham visit Fakenham – who lost 48-16 at Great Yarmouth-Broadland – on Saturday (2pm).
