Dereham Town was left to rue their missed chances after they lost 3-0 away at Sutton Coldfield Town in the Northern Premier League. The Magpies travelled to Coles Lane on a run of five defeats on February 25.
Manager Tom Parke included loan signings from Cambridge United, Jaydn Lott and Oscar Winterbone in his starting lineup - with Tyler Knowles from King’s Lynn on the bench.
Dereham started brightly as Charlie Clarke volleyed off target. Winterbourne linked up well with Ryan Swift but his cross was grasped by Sutton keeper Johnathan Brown.
Ryan Edmunds sped into the visitor's box and was denied by a fine save from Magpies keeper Ross Bilham.
The visitors responded with Luke Johnson playing in Clarke, but his chip failed to beat Sutton’s keeper.
Dereham lost possession outside their box and were made to pay, as the ball ended up with Leo Brown, who netted from close range to put Sutton in front after 20 minutes.
It got worse seven minutes later after The Magpies conceded a penalty when Greenslade upended Cameron Collins - Ryan Edmunds converted the spot kick.
Swift had sight of goal in the 33rd minute, heading over the top. While at the other end, Bilham was forced into a save from Taylor.
Just before half-time, Swift dragged his shot wide, with the Dereham striker then failing to stab the ball home from close range whilst under pressure.
In the 60th minute, Edmunds got into the home side’s box before having his shot blocked by Frary. Kai Thurston headed off target and Swift played in Johnson, whose shot was blocked as the Magpies pressed for a way back.
Minutes later, Clarke was put clean through for Dereham but chipped over with only the keeper to beat - the story of Dereham’s day.
With two minutes remaining, Sutton sealed victory as Trea Bertie scored from close range.
